Privacy Policy

How Habity handles personal information when you use our website, progressive web app, and community features.

1. Who we are

Habity is a local community platform that helps people discover neighborhood conversations, public information, communities, events, businesses, and services. For questions about this policy or requests concerning your personal data, contact admhabity@gmail.com.

2. Information we collect

The information we handle depends on the features you use. It may include account and sign-in details (such as your name, email address, and profile image supplied by you or your sign-in provider); profile information; posts, comments, reactions, messages, reports, and other content you submit; and information about communities, businesses, or services you create or manage.

  • Area and location information you select, plus device location when you grant permission and use a feature that needs it.
  • Device, browser, language, app version, security, and diagnostic information needed to operate and protect the service.
  • Push notification tokens and delivery preferences when you enable notifications.
  • Usage analytics only when you have enabled analytics consent in your account settings; operational security and reliability logs are handled separately.
  • Information you send to support or include in a report.

3. How we use information

We use information to provide and personalize local features, maintain your account, show content for the area you select, deliver messages and notifications you request, support local businesses and services, keep the platform safe, respond to reports, fix technical problems, and meet legal obligations. We use optional analytics to understand aggregate use and improve the product only when analytics consent is enabled.

4. Location and privacy

Habity uses your chosen neighborhood, city, county, or region to show relevant local content. A public profile or post may show an area rather than your street address. When a feature requests device location, your browser or operating system asks for permission; you can decline or change that permission in device settings, although the feature may then be unavailable. Do not publish an address or other sensitive location details in content you make public.

5. Content visibility and messages

The audience for a post, profile, community contribution, or business listing depends on the visibility settings and feature you choose. Public content may be visible to people who are not signed in and may be indexed or shared outside Habity. Direct messages are intended for their participants, but they are not represented as end-to-end encrypted; do not use them to send information that must remain confidential.

6. When information is shared

We share information as needed to provide the service: with other users according to your visibility choices; with service providers that host, authenticate, store, deliver notifications, or protect Habity; and with business or payment partners when you choose a related feature. Providers are expected to process information for the relevant service. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect people or the platform, or as part of a corporate reorganization. We do not sell personal information as a data broker.

7. Third-party services and international processing

Habity uses providers including Supabase for authentication and platform infrastructure, Google when you choose Google sign-in, and Firebase Cloud Messaging for push delivery. Those providers may process information under their own terms. Information may be processed in countries other than where you live; where required, we use safeguards applicable to the transfer and the laws that govern it.

8. Local advertising

Some local content may be labeled as sponsored. Advertisements may be selected using the campaign's chosen area or category and the context in which they appear. Habity does not offer paid political advertising. You can distinguish sponsored placements by their label; an advertiser does not receive private messages merely because an ad is shown.

9. Legal bases and choices

Where applicable, we process information to provide the service you request, comply with legal obligations, protect legitimate interests such as safety and fraud prevention, or act on your consent. Optional analytics and marketing choices can be changed in settings where available. You can also manage device location and push permissions through your browser or operating system. Withdrawing consent does not undo processing that was lawful before withdrawal.

10. Retention, access, export, and deletion

We keep information for as long as needed to provide the service, meet legal requirements, resolve disputes, and protect the platform. Some records may be retained or anonymized where the law or safety needs require it. Account settings provide controls to request a data export or account deletion. Deletion requests are processed through the account-erasure workflow; content needed for public safety or legal obligations may be anonymized or retained as permitted by law.

11. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to confirm processing, access, correct, delete, port, or restrict certain personal information, object to processing, and withdraw consent. Brazilian residents may exercise rights under the LGPD, including by contacting admhabity@gmail.com. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request and may explain when a legal exception applies.

12. Security and children

We use administrative and technical safeguards designed to protect information, but no online service can guarantee absolute security. If you believe your account or information is at risk, contact us promptly. Habity is not designed for children who cannot lawfully consent to the service in their jurisdiction; a parent or legal guardian should contact us if a child has provided personal information.

13. Changes and contact

We may update this policy as Habity changes or legal requirements evolve. We will update the date above and, when appropriate, provide notice in the service. Questions or privacy requests: admhabity@gmail.com.

Terms of Service

The rules and responsibilities that apply when you use Habity.

1. About these terms

These Terms of Service govern your use of Habity's website, progressive web app, and community features. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. Eligibility and your account

You must be legally able to agree to these terms where you live. If you are not legally able to do so independently, you may use Habity only with permission and supervision from a parent or legal guardian. Keep your sign-in details secure, provide accurate account information, and tell us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without permission. You are responsible for activity carried out through your account, except where applicable law provides otherwise.

3. Community conduct and user content

You keep ownership of content you create. You grant Habity a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, format, display, and distribute that content only as reasonably needed to operate, secure, and improve the service according to your settings. You confirm that you have the rights and permissions needed to share it. You must not post unlawful content, threats, harassment, hate, private information without consent, scams, spam, deceptive material, harmful instructions, or content that infringes another person's rights. You must not misuse the service, evade moderation, or access accounts or systems without authorization.

4. Visibility, messages, and safety

Use the audience and privacy controls offered by each feature. Public content can be viewed, copied, or shared outside Habity. Direct messages are not represented as end-to-end encrypted. Do not send passwords, payment credentials, or other highly sensitive information through public content or messages. You can report content that appears to violate these terms; Habity may review reports and take actions such as removing content, limiting features, or suspending an account, subject to applicable law and available review procedures.

5. Communities, businesses, services, and transactions

Communities, businesses, service providers, event organizers, and other users may offer information or transact with you independently. Unless Habity explicitly states otherwise, Habity is not the seller, service provider, employer, agent, or party to an agreement between users and businesses. You are responsible for checking a listing and deciding whether to contact, hire, purchase from, or meet another user. Do not use the platform to offer prohibited or unlawful goods or services. Listings and availability may be incomplete or out of date.

6. Sponsored content and elections

Some local placements are sponsored and are labeled as such. Habity does not offer paid political advertising. Election, polling, and results information is provided for civic information and may come from third-party or official sources; check the attribution, date, and source shown with the information. Habity is not an election authority and does not guarantee that third-party information is complete or current.

7. Notifications and location features

You may control push notifications through the settings in Habity and on your device. Local features rely on the area you select, and some features may request device location permission. You can deny or revoke device permission, but location-dependent features may not work as intended.

8. Intellectual property and brand

Habity and its software, design, name, logos, and other materials are owned by Habity or its licensors. These terms give you a limited, revocable, non-transferable right to use the service for its intended purpose. You may not copy, reverse engineer, resell, or use our brand or software except as permitted by law or with written permission.

9. Availability and changes

We work to keep Habity available, but features may change, be interrupted, or be discontinued. We may update these terms and will revise the date above. When a change is material, we will provide notice where reasonably appropriate. Continued use after an updated version takes effect means you accept the revised terms, unless applicable law requires another process.

10. Suspension and account closure

You can stop using Habity and request account deletion through account settings. We may restrict or suspend access when reasonably necessary to protect users, comply with law, enforce these terms, or address a security risk. Where appropriate and legally permitted, we will provide a reason and a way to seek review. Account closure does not remove obligations or rights that by their nature continue after closure.

11. Disclaimers and liability

To the extent permitted by law, Habity is provided on an as-available basis. We do not guarantee uninterrupted service or the accuracy, safety, or quality of user-submitted listings and content. Nothing in these terms excludes consumer rights or liability that cannot legally be excluded. To the extent allowed by law, Habity is not responsible for indirect loss arising from third-party content, transactions, or services; this does not limit liability for matters that applicable law does not allow us to limit.

12. Governing law and contact

These terms are governed by the laws applicable in Brazil, without limiting mandatory consumer or data-protection rights and jurisdictional protections that apply where you live. Questions about the service or these terms: admhabity@gmail.com.
